A Tech Headhunter’s Tips to Getting a Job in Digital

Did you know that many headhunters only post 10% of the jobs they are trying to fill? They are often inundated with hundreds of applications for every role they post. Make yourself stand out and find that next dream job in the digital industry!

Danielle Blizzard, Regional Director of MENA for Leap 9, an international people talent organization, shares her perspectives on the main characteristics and qualities that today’s top digital employers want, and what you can do to get your foot in the door.


  1. In digital, it’s all about the hard skills

Businesses want to dig into the data and use data-driven insights to make decisions. Analytics and CRMs are the name of the game.

  1. Stay up to date on your knowledge as digital is always changing!

Digital moves fast. Things that were relevant 5 years ago are now obsolete and things that didn’t exist a year ago are now a big deal. Be a lifelong learner for yourself first and to show future employers you are both the best qualified and take proactive steps to be better. Make sure you mention any new courses you’ve taken in your CV!

  1. Don’t be a job-hopper

Can’t last in the same job for longer than six months? Break that pattern. Companies want to invest in employees that have sticking power, at least 2 years in each role. They want to make sure that their investment is worth it and that the employee won’t leave a few months after joining.

  1. Match the wording in your CV to the job

If you’re applying for a specific job, make sure the keywords mentioned in the job description feature on your CV. Don’t make your CV too long, 2 pages maximum. Key is that it’s concise and to the point. Don’t forget to include the numbers, quantify your impact and achievements as much as possible.

  1. LinkedIn is your personal brand

Invest time in making it a quality profile and share relevant and engaging content. Think about the steps on how you’re going to get to the top of the chain with your LinkedIn profile to increase your chances of being scouted.

1- Your LinkedIn is your resume. Always make sure it’s updated.

2- Post content, share posts.

3- Posting about new things you’ve done that show you’re active in your career and constantly learning – books, articles, courses

4- Share your achievements.
